Our 12th annual recital is well on its way, and we have been diligently planning on an exciting end to our year. We are almost ready for show time!

Please review the following packet of information VERY carefully, as it contains all the information you will need for your dancer’s 2026 recital and all of the necessary preparations. We hope this will assist in your planning and will answer any questions you may have.

Our goal is to make the recital an organized, exciting experience for everyone involved. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email the studio. We thank you for the gift of your wonderful and talented children and look forward to working with you on this year’s recital!

Picture Day
PARTICIPATION IS MANDATORY
Date: Monday, May 18th  through  Thursday, May 21st
Time: during your child’s regular class time
Location: Studio 55 Dance studio

Class photos will take place from on Tuesday May 19. These photos are an important part of our recital preparation, as they will be featured in the official recital program. Attendance is mandatory for all dancers.

Arrival & Preparation
Dancers should arrive fully dressed in their costume, with hair and makeup completed according to class requirements. This helps keep the schedule running smoothly and ensures every dancer is camera-ready upon arrival.

Studio Setup & Supervision
 - Studio 2 will serve as the designated dressing and changing area.
 - Photos will be taken in the studio storage room.
 - Each dancer must have at least one female adult present to assist with costume changes.
 - For privacy and safety, no men are allowed in the dressing area at any time.
 - To minimize distractions and maintain an organized environment, parents are not permitted inside the storage room during photo sessions.

Photo Access & Options
All photos will be provided in digital format only. Families will receive access to all group photos featuring their dancer via a shared OneDrive folder. All group photos will be uploaded to the shared OneDrive folder by Friday, June 12. You will have full rights to these images, allowing you to print, share online, etc.

Costume Checklist
Before picture day, please:
 - Refer to the detailed costume list included in the back of your packet to confirm nothing is missing.
 - Ensure all costume pieces are accounted for and clearly labeled with your dancer’s name.
 - To maintain a clean and professional appearance in photos and on stage:
    - Do not wear underwear under costumes—tights are designed to serve this purpose.
    - Dancers who require a bra should wear a nude bra with convertible straps.
Following these guidelines helps create a polished, uniform look for all dancers in both photos and performances.

*Helpful Tip for picture day: Layer your dancers tights to make changing an easier process-have them wear their tan tights first, then put the pink tights on over the top.

Rehearsal
PARTICIPATION IS MANDATORY
Date:  Saturday, June 13, 2026
Time:  9:00AM
Location:  Delano High School Auditorium

700 Elm Street Delano, MN 55328

The purpose of the rehearsal is to familiarize dancers with the performance environment, including the auditorium layout, stage presence, spacing, and overall comfort while performing their routines. During this time, lighting and music cues, as well as entrances and exits, will be rehearsed to ensure a smooth, organized, and professional recital performance.

This rehearsal also provides dancers the opportunity to build confidence on stage and reduce performance anxiety. In addition, it allows staff to address any last-minute adjustments or concerns to ensure all routines are performance-ready. Please remember that dance is a team effort; if a dancer is absent, it can impact spacing, formations, and partnered choreography. We kindly ask that every effort be made to attend.

Arrival & Preparation
- Please arrive 15 minutes early and be ready to begin on time.
- Please enter through door #11 and proceed to the auditorium.
- Dancers should attend rehearsal in proper dance attire with all their necessary shoes for each style of dance the perform.

Dressing Room Info

- Bring all required costumes, tights, and accessories needed for recital day. These items may be left at the school between rehearsal and the first performance for your convenience. However, please take the costume/tights your dancer will wear for their first routine home so they arrive at the show fully dressed and ready to perform.
- Ensure all personal items are clearly labeled with your dancer’s name.
- Items may be left at the school for convenience.

Parent Supervision

- Each show is expected to take approximately 2 hours.
- There will be a scheduled intermission roughly half way through each show.
- The Sunday show will feature a presentation celebrating the year’s accomplishments, during which dancers will be presented with trophies

Audience Etiquette
We kindly ask that all audience members remain seated throughout performances, as movement during the show can be disruptive to both dancers and other guests.

- The dressing room will be clearly marked, and each class will have a designated section.
- To help keep dancers occupied during waiting periods, you are welcome to send quiet activities. Please do not send items such as markers, pens, playdough, or anything that could stain or damage costumes.
- Snacks and water are permitted as long as they cannot stain or damage costumes.
- Dancers are expected to show respect at all times toward volunteers, staff, and fellow performers. We appreciate your help in reinforcing appropriate behavior and professionalism with your dancer prior to the event.

Backstage Privacy & Access
For the safety, privacy, and organization of our performers, family members and guests are not permitted backstage or in the dressing room areas at any time, including before, during intermission, and after the performance. Backstage areas are strictly reserved for dancers and approved volunteers due to limited space and safety considerations.

Makeup is strongly encouraged for both picture day and recital. Without makeup, facial features can appear washed out under the harsh stage lighting, and we want every dancer’s bright, smiling face to be clearly visible from anywhere in the auditorium. Dancers are recommended to wear blush, red or dark pink-toned lipstick, along with neutral toned eyeshadow and mascara.

Please ensure that all nail polish, temporary tattoos, jewelry, and similar items are removed prior to both picture day and recital.

All shoes should be cleaned in advance of picture day and again before the recital.

To avoid any costume-related issues, dancers should only wear their costumes, accessories, and tights during picture day and recital.

If needed, costumes may be steamed prior to picture day. Please do not machine wash.

Helpful Tip: We recommend packing costumes, shoes, tights, accessories, snacks, activities, and any other items in a clearly labeled bag or tote to help keep everything organized and easy to manage.

The recital is a multi-day preparation process, not just a single event. We encourage families to gather all costumes, accessories, shoes, and makeup several days in advance to ensure nothing is missing and everything is ready to go.
